FREE (Foundation for the Return of Equitable Economy) is a non profit voluntary organisation, a group of individuals who are concerned about the future of Britain. Unemployment figures have reached unprecedented figures. In response to this, FREE is looking to work with other community groups and projects in Edinburgh with the initiative to sustain a global problem by providing a local solution. Medieval economics has survived for centuries by the local market and guild mechanism, the only workable solution that has survived the tests of time but has been rejected by capitalism. FREE would like to bring back this model into our communities with a practical workable model.  The success of the market is that no rent is charged to traders but either a monthly or annual membership fee is enacted which must be minimal and allow key benefits. The guild mechanism allows local manufacture enter the market, which literally means those goods crafted locally are sold at the local FREE market. The cycle of trade and manufacture requires support so that the market then becomes the platform for both traders and producers alike sustaining an entire community locally.
